About AFWA in Greenville

The Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA) in Greenville, SC is a chapter of the National Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance (formerly ASWA or American Society of Women Accountants). The Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance is the home for all women accounting and financial professionals whether new to the field, experienced or considering a career transition. 

The Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance was formed as the American Society of Women Accountants in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. Members include partners in national, regional and local CPA firms, financial officers, controllers, academicians, financial analysts, and financial advisors and recent college graduates and women returning to the work force. The majority of members have obtained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP. The national organization was chartered in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1938 to increase the opportunities available to women in the fields of accounting and finance. Most members have one of the following professional designations: CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.

Mission

The mission of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession
